NZ F Class Team report

The second day of the Trans Tasman F Class teams match saw a continuation of the cool westerly breeze.

The fifteen shot match at 800 saw the Australians take an 8 point lead, only dropping five points in the process.

Mike Chui was our top score with 90.8 followed by Ian Hughes with 89.12 and Graham Piper on 89.7. Top for Australia was Don Laughton with 90.10.

The 900 match was a narrow win to us by one point, 517.29 to 516.33. Ian top scoring for us with 90.6 followed by Graham on 88.6 and Murray Cook on 86.4. Top Aussie Peter Carter with 90.10.

With the two day aggregate being the big prize, Australia held a fourteen point lead after the three completed ranges and 300 counting shots having been fired.

They made no race of the final 15 shot match at 1000 to out score us by 31 points. Our two F Open shooters again were our top scorers with Mike on 85.2, and Ian 84.3, with FTR Murray on 78.2. Top Aussie was Tim Nugent with 88.7.

The second day aggregate went to Australia on 1560.103 to our 1521.81.

The Trans Tasman F Class trophies staying in Australia. Their two day aggregate being 2217.132 to our 2172.106.

In the individual aggregate Peter Carter was top with 382.25, Tim next on 381.31, both F Open, followed by Mike on 374.20 and Ian on 372.26. Of the FTR Aussie Don Laughton 369.23 was top, followed by team mate Jeff Eppleston with 366.21. Our top FTR was Graham on 361.19 with Murray next on 358.14.

We were in the race until the last range, up against an Australian team of experienced shooters that have been in their world championship winning teams. Australian F Class shooters were trialling for their teams to attend the 2021 world F Class championships in South Africa at the same time as the Trans Tasman match. Our opposition team members were excused from having to trial, they are proven team members.
