RIP - Jeanette Oliver

Janette Oliver

It is with regret that I advise you of the death of Jeanette Oliver on Saturday afternoon in Wellington Hospital.  Jeannette had been ill for some time.

Jeanette started shooting with Onslow Rifle Club sometime in the mid 80s, Trevor had been a member since 1967.  An early highlight in her shooting career was winning the C Grade and many matches and aggregates at the Bi Centenary Queens at Malabar in Sydney.

She shot in a number of NZ Ladies Teams.  In the Te Puke Champs in 1994 she won the 500 yard match with a 50.10.  Her real strength was in team shooting. She was a regular reliable member of the club team.  Jeanette was a member of winning club teams at the 1988 Bi Centenary, the 1989 NZ Postal Match, the 1992 Field Shield and the 1992 NZ Postal Match.

Jeanette enjoyed shooting and involved herself well in the life of the club. Early in 2000 Jeanette found the pull of involvement in family life and grand children were important to her and could not make time for both family and shooting, while working full time.

While Jeanette enjoyed and had success in shooting, Jeanette’s greatest legacy in life has been their family and support to children, grand children and great grand children.

A funeral service for Jeanette will be held at Gee and Hickton’s in Porirua on Wednesday 22 December at 11am.
