Nelson Champs 2014
The 2014 Nelson Championship was held at the Westport range in fine, warm and sunny conditions. At times it was calm and at other times the shifty mirage proved difficult and unpredictable. John Snowden had a good weekend winning both days and in the end only being seriously challenged by the fast improving Alan White. Alan comfortably won the B grade as well as being the championship runner up. The C grade was a clear win to Herman Jansen Van Vuuren and Darren Swaney did the same in FTR while Chris Brown had an uncontested win in F Open.
The Nelson Championship was also the second leg of the South Island Championship, the first leg being the Canterbury Championship. John Snowden won the South Island Championship with an aggregate score of 679.65 from Bevan Mehrtens on 671.59 and Malcolm Dodson on 670.65.
The B grade title went to John Fleming 640.45 and the C grade to Alan White on 366.48. No FTR or F Open completed both legs.
The South Island Long Range Aggregate went to Bevan Mehrtens on 285.20 from John Snowden on 284.18 and Chris Kershaw on 282.15.
