RIP - Sandra Tilson

We are sad to report that Sandra Tilson died on Friday 1 August. 

Sandra started shooting in the Upper Hutt Rifle Club in the middle of the 60s, using 303s.  In the 70s, she and her dad, Orm Whiteman, started shooting with the Onslow Rifle Club.

Sandra got involved with running the Onslow Club, joining the committee soon after joining the club. She was President in 1994 and initiated projects to celebrate the club’s anniversary in 1997 and a Goodwill trip to Brisbane.  As well as being an active club shot, Sandra was involved in 300m shooting.  Sandra stopped shooting in the late 90s, she stopped when she finished using the 144gr projectiles she had. 

Sandra continued to support the club and sport after she stopped shooting.  In 2019 she worked as a volunteer for the weeks of the World Championships at Trentham. She came to all events and was always keen to support the people shooting. We will miss her presence, she was always, cheerful, helpful and interested in others.

The funeral will be held on Friday 9 August at the Harbour City Funeral Home, Upper Hutt at 2pm.
